Titanium Casting Services
Titanium and its alloys offer an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, outstanding corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility that make them essential materials for aerospace structures, medical implants, marine hardware, and chemical processing equipment. CastAlloy provides precision titanium investment casting using vacuum arc melting and inert atmosphere pouring to produce defect-free components with excellent mechanical properties. Our titanium casting capabilities cover commercially pure grades (Grade 1, 2, 3, 4) as well as the workhorse aerospace alloy Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5).
Why Investment Cast Titanium?
Investment casting is often the most cost-effective method for producing complex titanium components. Titanium's high cost per pound and extreme difficulty to machine make near-net-shape casting highly advantageous—reducing material waste and expensive machining time compared to machining from wrought bar stock. Our investment casting process produces titanium components with wall thicknesses as thin as 0.040 inches, complex internal passages, and intricate external geometries with tolerances comparable to other investment cast alloys.
Titanium Grades & Applications
Grade 2 CP (commercially pure) titanium castings serve applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance without high strength demands, such as chemical processing equipment, marine hardware, and heat exchangers. Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V is the most widely used titanium alloy, combining high strength (130+ ksi tensile), low density, and good elevated temperature performance for aerospace structural components, turbine blades, medical orthopedic implants, and high-performance sporting goods. We also cast Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) for medical implant applications requiring enhanced fracture toughness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Titanium is extremely reactive with oxygen and nitrogen at casting temperatures. Exposure to air creates brittle oxide and nitride inclusions that severely degrade mechanical properties. Vacuum or inert gas (argon) environments prevent contamination and ensure metallurgical integrity.
Yes, titanium's biocompatibility makes it ideal for orthopedic implants, dental implants, and surgical instruments. We cast Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) which is specifically designed for implant applications with enhanced fracture toughness and fatigue resistance.
