Exhaust Environment Challenges
Exhaust systems endure a punishing combination of high temperatures (800–1,200°F for turbine exhaust, higher in afterburner systems), rapid thermal cycling during start-stop operations, corrosive combustion products including sulfur compounds and acidic condensates, vibration from engine operation and aerodynamic buffeting, and oxidation attack on exposed surfaces. Inconel 718 withstands this combination with its high-temperature strength preventing creep deformation and cracking, while its chromium content provides oxidation protection and its nickel base resists sulfidation from combustion products.
Components We Manufacture
CastAlloy produces Inconel 718 exhaust components through investment casting for complex collector and manifold geometries, forging for flanges and structural brackets, and CNC machining for precision-fit ducting and adapters. Applications include turbine exhaust cases and ducts, thrust reverser structural components, exhaust manifolds for turboprop and turboshaft engines, exhaust nozzle liners and chevrons, and high-performance automotive and racing exhaust systems where weight savings and durability justify the premium material cost.
Design and Manufacturing Support
Our engineering team assists with design optimization for manufacturability, including wall thickness optimization to balance weight against thermal fatigue life, weld joint design for fabricated assemblies, and casting/forging process selection based on geometry and production volume.
